Akua Naru’s Journey Has Just Begun

Internationally acclaimed hip hop artists Akua Naru began sharing her first rhymes before small audiences. Wanting to experience more, Naru spent years traveling through Asia, Africa & Europe. Eventually her journey led her to Cologne, Germany where she currently resides and creates music

“I have written, sung and danced since I remember having my first thoughts,” says Naru. “I didn’t just discover the music one day. I feel that it chose and discovered me.”

“The World is Listening” is a homage to the power of the female voice in hip hop, and pays respect to those pioneering female artists who have often been overlooked by their male counterparts. With this song, Akua Naru encourages us to remember the ways in which these women have served as models of inspiration for many, and to address our need to support more female artists in hip hop.

Now with the debut of her first release, “The Journey Aflame,“ Akua Naru´s journey has in many ways just begun. According to Naru, the album is a reflection of her path with an intricate landscape of words that provoke thought, inspire, and soothe.
